Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 2026.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Below you will find which types of cookies exist in general, which of them the Service actually uses today, and which categories you can choose between in the banner on your first visit or at any time later.
| Cookie type | Examples and functions |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Authentication cookies keep the user signed in without having to log in again. |
| Strictly necessary | Security cookies protect the site from attacks, prevent request forgery and guard against unauthorised access. |
| Strictly necessary | Session cookies store temporary data about the user’s actions during a single visit. |
| Strictly necessary | Preference cookies save the settings chosen by the user: interface language, theme or content display options. |
| Additional | Analytics and statistics cookies track activity on the site, count unique visits and analyse session time and user behaviour in order to improve the content. |
| Additional | Marketing cookies collect data about preferences and interests for personalised advertising and conversion tracking. |
| Additional | Functional cookies remember user preferences beyond what is strictly necessary, enable embedded third-party services and may determine the user’s approximate location. |
Strictly necessary — what the Service actually uses from this list
Without these cookies the Service technically cannot work: it could not sign you in or tell your requests apart from those of other users. They cannot be disabled through the banner; under the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC (Art. 5(3)) and similar rules, strictly necessary cookies do not require prior consent.
| Cookie | Category from the table above | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
dslite.sid | Authentication / session — the regular user’s session (signing in to the personal account). | Up to 8 hours or until you sign out. |
dslite.admin.sid | Authentication / session — a separate administrator session (the /admin panel); it does not overlap with the user session. | Up to 8 hours or until you sign out. |
ceph_lang (cookie, not httpOnly) | Preference management — remembers the interface language you chose. The language also determines the price region and the currency on the subscription cards. | 1 year. |
ceph_lang_auto (cookie, not httpOnly) | Preference management — temporarily remembers the language the site selected automatically (from the browser language, region and time zone) until you choose a language yourself. | Until the browser is closed (session cookie). |
dslite_cookie_consent_v2 (localStorage, not a cookie) | Preference management — stores your choice in this very banner. | Until the browser data is cleared. |
Both server cookies are httpOnly (they cannot be read through JavaScript on the page) and are sent only
over a secure connection in production.
A note on the date of your last sign-in. Besides cookies, the Service records on the server the moment of your last sign-in (visible to you and to the administrator in the personal account / admin panel). By its function this also belongs to the “security cookies” category in the table above — it protects the account and is not additional profiling, so it does not depend on any switch in the banner below and is always recorded, regardless of your choice.
Additional — what the Service actually uses from this list
Analytics and statistics — this category is reserved for future usage statistics of the Service. At the moment no analytics or marketing cookies or scripts are actually connected — the “Analytics and statistics” switch in the banner currently has no technical effect; your choice is only saved so that it can be applied later if such functionality appears.
Functional (geolocation) — implemented as “Geolocation and sign-in protection”. Unlike analytics, this mechanism really works: at every sign-in the server may determine the approximate country/city from the IP address and compare it with the previous sign-in locations of the same user — if a sign-in comes from a region that has not been seen before, the administrator will see a warning and may contact you if an account compromise is suspected.
How it works if the “Geolocation and sign-in protection” switch is OFF. The authoritative value of this setting is stored not in a cookie/localStorage but in your account (a checkbox at registration, also available from the personal account), so it applies equally on any device you sign in from. If it is off, the server does not perform a geolocation lookup for your IP at all and does not keep a history of sign-in locations — it is not “collected but not shown”, it is simply not collected. The only thing that is recorded in any case is the fact and time of the sign-in (see the note above about the date of the last sign-in), which is a separate, always-on mechanism.
The value of the switch in this banner (on anonymous pages where you are not signed in yet) is only a hint that pre-fills the checkbox of the same name in the registration form; after registration the setting can be changed by contacting support through the chat in the personal account.
How to change your choice
Click the button below to open the cookie settings banner again:
Where your choice is stored
The fact of your choice (which categories you allowed) is stored not in a cookie but in your browser’s
localStorage under the key dslite_cookie_consent_v2 and is not sent to the server. Clearing
the browser data resets this choice, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
